TGIF!!

I know real original title. But I just need this weekend so badly. We haven't been busy here at work, but the drama is so intense sometimes. I think that my resolution should have been to start looking for a new job. Supervisor was in the office yesterday, spent about 2 1/2 hours with the old lady in the "break room" and now this morning the old lady's already here. Seriously, 35 minutes early. That so totally messes me up. I come into work early to gather my thoughts, blog hop (or like today blog) and just mentally prepare for my day. Normally I try to blog at home, that way I can add pictures, layouts etc.. but my electric company is being really freaky. About every 15 minutes we have a power surge and the lights all flicker and the tv's go out. It freaks Carmen out and she was being all needy. I'm sure it has something to do with it being so cold outside (12 degrees) and the fact that I live in a subdivision built in the late 70's , early 80's and we are all electric. No gas. So we all have heat pumps. Not a good way to start the day. Sorry for the rant, but I think it's gonna be one of those days.

Something cool in my little corner of the digiscrappin world to tell you about. Kristine of Wenchd Grafix has had this free forum for awhile now and she finally decided to put it all together for scrappers to hang out at. So stop by her Dork Dancing Forum - ".... Very laid back atmosphere, I already posted a challenge and others are encouraged to post their own challenges too! There's a big ass chatbox up top where ya can just shoot the shit and I'll eventually have chats there too." As she put it to me and on her blog this morning. It's just gonna be a place to let your fro go and dork dance as much as you want to. Plus you can see what wonderful freebies Kristine and her CT are offering as they'll be listed with links to the blogs. I get to play "da Mod" so that the evil spammers with their Viagra and pills don't come pushin there. (I seriously hate that!) I hope you all will come by to play with us.

I'm hoping to get some pages done this weekend. In addition to challenges for CT stuff I got back 6 more rolls of film that I took to be developed. It was so funny when I opened up one of the envelopes to see what the pictures were, the first one was a photo of a cake. It was my niece Emily's baby shower photos. She'll be 3 at the end of the month. See procrastination is my middle name. But I got some good ones for my Christmas book and I'm very excited to scrap them.

Well, it's about time to open the doors and I need to go ride the blog train. Enjoy your day and scrap happy!!!!

Finding a "Rad" Skateboard

My nephew informed me that he wanted a skateboard for his birthday, not just any skateboard but a "rad" skateboard. Of course, he thinks I'm too old to know how to find him a "rad" skate board and thinks he'll get money to get his own. So I set off to find some sites and came across this great one, Warehouse Skateboards, offering element skateboards. It'll let me design a skateboard just for him. You start with the deck and then add the truck, wheels, bearings and you have no idea what I'm talking about do you? Neither do I which is great because this site has a great section on how to buy/build a skateboard. So now when I ask him how he wants his skateboard, I can surprise him and speak the lingo. In addition to being able to build your own skateboard, there is a large selection of assembled skateboards from several of the top manufacturers, skate apparel, safety equipment like helmets and pads and even videos. He loves his Tony Hawk Play Station games and thinks that he can be just like Tony. I think I'll make sure that his Grandma gets him the pads and helmet to go with the board he gets.

Short today

Hi all. I'm gonna keep it short today, not much going on in my corner of the scrappin world. Still bummed about OAKS. Haven't sorted out what layouts I had done that I didn't put in any other galleries. Important lesson, don't put all your lo's in 1 gallery. Not that I want to, but if I was applying for a CT spot, I have a very incomplete gallery with big lapses between lo's. Didn't get to finish the page sitting on my computer screen last night. It's one for the Christmas book about my niece and her Disney Princess Christmas. Have you seen the font. Waltology (I think that's the name). Too fun for those Disney pages.

If you missed Heather's chat on New Years Eve, you missed getting this great mini kit. But she has it in her store at PDW. So go check it out. And while you're there, check out her I Wanta Scrap About Me Challenge there for January. It's a good one.

I'm so glad that tomorrow is Friday. I really like these short work weeks. Almost wish they all could be that way. Have a great day and scrap happy.

Looking for love on the Internet????

So an old friend and I were chatting the other day and she was lamenting the fact that she didn't have a date for New Years Eve and how much easier it was to meet guys when we were younger. She's recently divorced and just now ready to jump back into the game, but she's finding it's changed on her. I asked her if she had thought about checking out one of the Internet dating sites. She just kinda stared at me and then said that she'd never thought of that. I was baffled with that, I mean they're all over the TV. I told her that I had read about this site in some one's blog and then we went to check it out. Online Dating Sites reviews the top 10 Internet dating sites and provides links directly to them. From the big sites like EHarmony which focuses on those who are looking for long term commitment such as marriage to the newest dating site, Chemistry.com which builds on the formulas of the other sites and then adds a more scientific approach, this site is a good research tool for anyone looking into the prospect of finding an online Dating Sites and possibly a new love for the new year.

pizza

Thanks Heather, I found all these fun things on your other blog and now I gotta add em to mine. lol

What Your Pizza Reveals

Your appetite is pretty average. You don't go overboard - but you don't deprive yourself either.

You aren't particularly picky about pizza. It's so good... how could you be? You fit in best in the Western part of the US.

You like food that's traditional and well crafted. You aren't impressed with "gourmet" foods.

You are generous, outgoing, and considerate with your choices.

You are definitely unique and artistically inclined. You should consider traveling to Prague.

The stereotype that best fits you is geek. You're the type most likely to order pizza to avoid leaving your computer.

Now I totally don't agree with this. I am very picky about my pizza - the only veggie I'll eat on it is black olives - no onion, no mushrooms and No Anchovies Please! (dork dance to old song here). I'm not so sure that I'd say my appetite was average and I will never deprive myself (hence all the extra weight). I'm the type to order pizza mostly to avoid cooking or more importantly to avoid the dishes!

Home and Bedroom Furniture

So now that the new year has started, I've decided it's time to look towards tax refund time and what to do with it. I have some updates that need to be done in the bathrooms and just need the last of the materials to get that started. I'm seriously considering replacing my bedroom set. It's old and out dated, terribly. I found this site that gave me some really good ideas and helpful hints. Home and Bedroom Furniture. First thing I did was read through their articles on interior designing and helpful hints. Choosing the Right Bed for your Style and What Size Bed Do You Really Need in Your Bedroom were full of very helpful information. Then I let my mouse do the browsing. Wow, wonderful furniture on this site. And very easy to navigate. They have it broken down by furniture type and also manufacturers. I was very impressed by Hillsdale Furniture and South Shore Furniture. Then I found this great headboard by Fashion Bed Group that I just fell in love with. It's 32% of normal retail and there is no sales tax (except in Texas) and NO delivery fees. So come February and my tax refund, I can definitely see myself heading right back to check out Platform Beds and iron headboards at this site.

Wednesday morning

Hope you enjoyed your New Years Day. My house was all football, all day. Shannon had 3 tv's on and lined up at one point watching 3 different games. The Big 10 didn't fare so well, with Wisconsin & Illinois getting beat, but a big shot out to the Amazin Blue for beating the hated Florida team. What a great game that was. Just 5 days until my beloved Buckeye's play for their second year in a row for the National Championship. Of course we are all hoping that the outcome will be different this year with a win.

I grew tired of football pretty quickly. If it's not my team, then I can find better things to do. So I spent a little time (actually a lot of time) on this layout. I had a hard time with the alpha. I wasn't gonna put any on there, but it looked like it needed something. So I went looking, I don't have a lot of alphas. So I found one that I thought may work and began playing with the opacity on it, then the placement, then the opacity etc... I don't think I've got it where I want it. But overall I'm very pleased with the lo.

Happy New Year!!!!!

Well, it's now 2008 and the hoopla's over. I hope you enjoyed your celebration and was able to spend it with those you love. Here's a brief recap of my great meal but very boring evening. We have the same New Years Eve dinner every year. This year, it was made a little nicer by the gift Shannon's boss gave him, Omaha Steaks. I got home from work and the sweetie he can be was sitting at the kitchen table, writing out a menu. I was working on the computer and he brought it in to me. It was for 3 meals, lol, including breakfast this morning (steak & eggs) and football game appetizers for later in the day. He marked the breakfast part, made with love. I guess he still has his little romantic side. So of course, I had to scrap the sentiment.
This was made with Heather Manning's Flashy New Year kit available at PDW. I love this kit but just haven't found good photos of mine to scrap with it. So I'll use it for yet another list.

Anyway, we ate and it was heavenly. We played a little bit more with the Guitar Hero. I'm now on the medium level, but damn it's hard. We watched some of Shrek 2 and when the meal put Shannon down for the count, I jumped on the net and caught up with the chat's at DST. It's amazing how fast those chats move. And so many people. Heather's chat was a great success! She gave away coupons/g.c. to her store including a 1 time use 100% off one. Some lucky scrapper will have fun with that. Then when there was about 10 minutes left I went to watch the ball drop and wake up my sweetie for my midnight kiss. He said, "same time next year?" and I said, "same place!" Sweet ain't it. But it was really hard to watch Dick Clark. Don't get me wrong, it was good to see him, but I grew up with Dick Clark; between American Bandstand (in the 70's) and watching the ball drop almost every year with him since 76 (I think that was my first one). It's just sad to watch him suffer so.

Here are 2 more LO's that I had worked on. This one was done with Heather's Dirt Don't Hurt and Stacked Frames. And for my Christmas book, from her Grungy Christmas Fun, with template by Andrea Gold.

I was saddened, but not surprised to get the email last night that OAKS will be closing the shop as of Jan 31st, with the gallery & forums already down. I was very much enjoying my time over there, not to mention the little perks. But I think that if I just focus more on my scrapping maybe I'll find my lost mojo or at least get back to where I was in October. The only bad thing is that for about 1 1/2 months, all my lo's were uploaded to OAKS. Now I need to decide if I want to go upload them elsewhere or let em be. Either way, I shall miss the girls over there and wish them all the best of luck.

Well, it's about time to go look into breakfast. Yum! Plus I need to go off and say hello to all my friends in blogville. Happy New Year to all! May 2008 be everything you wish for and more.

A quick look back, top 10 lo's and thank you

I'm "borrowing" this idea from JanMary who so brilliantly did it for her yesterday's post. They say that imitiation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I uploaded my first layout to the gallery at SBB on July 18th. I knew absolutely nothing about scrapbooking, let along digiscrapbooking. But I had time on my hands and a SIL who is a whiz at paper scraping, so I figured what did I have to lose. If you look at that first layout, you'll see that I truly started with nothing. That's Justin, my cousins son. For those of you are semi regular readers, you may remember him better if I tell you his dad was in the real bad motorcycle accident.I truly cringe when I look at this layout. But every one's gotta start somewhere. And I think that if I hadn't gotten so much support from people at SBB this hobby might have been short lived.

Here's my top ten favorites of the layouts I've done since I got my new computer in Sept.

More important than the layouts I've done and listed here are the friends I've made along the way. If I listed each of your individually and how you have impacted my life, we'd be sitting here all day reading this post. I am always thankful that someone wants to read about my insignificant life (especially since I haven't been talking much about scraping lately). I have made many friends and look forward to reading your blogs daily so I know more about what's important in your life. I now can say that I have friends all over the world. Thank you.

My wish for you for the New Year is quite simple. I wish you health and happiness, love and laughter, peace and proseperity. Scrap Happy and here's to next year!

I actually slept in.....

For a change. Go figure. I think it's quite funny since in yesterday's post I said that I probably wouldn't be able to. Well, 9:30 is quite late for me and I'm rather pleased. But now I'm behind on my blogging. Oh well.

I have officially become a Guitar Hero addict. I went out and bought it yesterday for Shannon and I end up playing it most of the time yesterday. Turns out I'm pretty good at it. Well at least on the easier songs. ZZ Tops La Grange, kicked my butt. My left hand hurts still from having it around the neck of the guitar to play the notes. It may not be a wii, but I'll say it's about as addicted. I'll have to remember to thank my brother since he started the whole thing by getting one for my nephew. Here's a picture of him playing it on Christmas day and then a screen shot on his big screen plasma tv. I wasn't sure if the experience would be a lot different on a regular size tv. It is a bit, but not enough to keep me from playing it. I'm sure it'll get broken out real soon. I only got 2 pages done yesterday and I had hoped to get a few more than that. Maybe I just need a break and then my mojo will come back.
Don't forget about the chat at DST on Monday night, 11 pm EST with Heather Manning. Freebies and fun to be had for all. I'm gonna have to go grocery shopping for our dinner tomorrow night soon. Fun, fun, fun. Then it's laundry time and I still need to clean up all the Christmas wrapping paper stuff and put it away again for the season.
Enjoy the last Sunday of the year! Congrats to any Patriot fan's out there for their teams stellar season. Scrap happy everyone!!!
