More Snow

Hi there,
Thank God it's Friday! I sooooo wanted to take a snow day like the kids all got. I still don't understand why 2 inches of new snow will close a school. One of the new great mysteries of life I guess. At least people got some of their brain cells back and remembered how to drive.

edit: I forgot the good news from one of my friends, and then doing my daily blog check of Yen's log I found that she's back and posted good news. I'll let you read it for yourself.

Ok, what' is you're favorite Christmas show? Mine is A Year Without a Santa Claus. You know the one with the Mizer brothers; Heat & Snow. I know it's been on already once this year, but it's gotta be shown again right? I also missed Rudolf and I think Charlie Brown has been on already too. I would think that with the writer's strike here in the states, they would show all of these more than once. Let's hope.

The dogs got me up this morning at 5:30 and I couldn't get back to sleep. So what's the perfect way to pass the time....scrap of course. Here's what I did first thing this morning. I'm not sure it's done, but I ran out of time and posted it as is. I've been such a bad CT member for Heather lately that I wanted to use her Icy Sparkles papers again. I think the snow photos are perfect for that kit. Don't you think?

Fantacy put her new kit Santa's Vintage Suspenders in the OAKS store today. I adore this kit.
Here's yet another pix of Em. I went a little overboard with the snowflake overlay, but I just love em.

Here's a 2 pager I did for my Scrapper's Daily Dose Gig. ChereKaye of O'Chere Designs (OCD) is the featured sponsor for December. I really like this collab kit she did with SaraAmarie, called Fall Frolick. It's perfect for the photos of my brother's family at the Orchard Farm.

I got sidetracked and forgot where I was going with the blog today. I hate when that happens. I had a lot of people comment on yesterday's blog. Thank you, your comments mean the world to me. I hope to be able to continue with the message from the day. Will it matter that the person in front of me cut me off in 5 hours from now. Let it gooooooo.

Enjoy your weekend. I hope that everyone has quality family time and quality me time. Scrap happy!

One more day

Hi,

Did you happen to catch Oprah yesterday? I don't watch her a lot, but the show is always on at work, the other lady in my office has to have her tv on. Anyway, did you see her show yesterday? She had Mitch Albom on; he wrote the books Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People you'd like to meet in Heaven. His newest book, One More Day Oprah produced into a made for tv movie that will be on Sun. night. Now I haven't read it yet. I've picked it up a few times, but not in a place where I can do that right now. Basically it's about a guy who didn't have the greatest relationship with his mother and after she dies, he's about to commit suicide but she's back for one more day. It's all about making sure that you don't leave things unsaid or have regrets when you lose someone. She then had the widow of the guy who wrote the book Don't Sweat the Small Stuff on. He died very unexpectedly at age 45. His wife read or had Oprah read love letters that he had written his wife. One of them talked about if you only had 1 hour left who he wouldn't call - his lawyer, acct. stockbroker, insurance agent etc... No one ever said that they wish they'd been less generous or that they'd spend less time with their kids or families when they were on their death bed. It was a pretty powerful show. I subscribe to the belief that when it's your time to go, it doesn't matter how it happens, it will happen. And if you're lucky enough to be in a bad spot and you get through it, then it wasn't your time. And then I get home and the news about the Omaha shooting is on and it just crushes me. Right before the holidays, I just can't fathom it. And then this morning on the Today show, they're interviewing survivors and people who work at the mall. Their lives will never be the same again. So I guess the theme behind today is Don't sweat the small stuff, it's all small stuff. Don't have the regrets and wish you had one more day to tell those you love how much they mean to you and how much you love them. Don't hold a grudge, forgive and forget. Will it all matter 5 years from now? What about 5 months from now? Smile more, laugh more, love more.

Thank you all for stopping by to read my daily rants. The friends I have made in the scrapping community lift my spirits and increase my self worth. You are special to me and I just want you to know that I appreciate all of you. Scrap happy!

The S word

Hi,
I'm a little torn here. We got our first measurable snowfall over night. Usually the only snow I like is the first of the year and Christmas snow. Now when I say measurable, the official prediction is 1 to 3 inches, which in my book is really not much. But let me tell you, at the sign of flurries, people here lose their minds when it comes to driving. I've been watching the news since 6 am and they say the road crews have been out all night. So you'd think that the roads would be in pretty good shape. Well there are already 2 dozen reported accidents on the MAIN roads, highways and such. It's like people's brains freeze when it snows here and their driving is affected. And when I was in school (way back when- well it wasn't the ice age but a while ago) it took like a blizzard or at least more than 6 inches to close the schools. I grew up in Michigan people, lots and lots of snow. I don't remember a whole lot of snow days. The entire Central Ohio area schools are either closed or on a delay. We have maybe 2 inches of snow. For pete's sake, it's not the end of the world. Plus it's not really that cold out. Send the little kiddies off to school.

Well you can tell I'm a scrapper. When I let the dogs out at 5 am I ran and got my camera for my first official photo of the first snow. I'm standing in the doorway, half nekid and freezing but I got a shot. lol
Then at 6, knowing my dogs don't like to take care of business in wet weather, actually put on some clothes and went out with them. Not the best quality of photos, but this is the typical Jazi "I don't like what is going on therefore I refuse to participate" pose. I may try to get them outside again for some more pictures before I take the 15 minutes, but it will take me a half hour to get into work drive.

So have you done any of the challenges that I had listed? Me neither. Didn't get any scrapping done last night. But hopefully tonight. Don't forget to check out the Humpday Hunnies to get your freebies. Start at Kristine's and she'll point you along the way.

Well not much else to add. Enjoy your day and scrap happy.

Is it Friday yet?

Hi there,
I can't believe how fast the year has gone, but why is it only Tuesday? It feels like it should be Friday already and I haven't even gone into work yet. I have a feeling it's going to be a long week. grrr.
Did I tell you that my Shutterfly calendar came in the mail? Well it did and I must say I was pretty pleased with the way it turned out considering it was my first attempt. You can definately tell the difference between the photos taken with my cheap Sony and my brother's almost professional Nikon. Big difference. I'll have to make sure that if I do it again next year, I use pictures from the same camera. Most likely his. I know my mom will be pleased and that's all that matters. I kinda wish I had done another one for me, but oh well. Next year I'll know to hunt up codes on Ebay.
Check out Heather's new kit. Flashy New Year. Isn't it the coolest. I have the perfect picture in mind for this kit, but darned if I can find it. And that is killing me cuz without that photo, I can't scrap this kit. Does that ever happen to you? You see in your head exactly how you want your lo to look but something is missing. Well, when it's the photo, it's bad. I'm hunting for that one and trying to find another but I'm stubborn and can't get past the missing photo. Anyway, go pick up this kit at Plain Digital Wrapper. You'll love it too.
Remember I told you that Fantacy was working on a new Christmas kit too. Well, here's Santa's Vintage Susupenders. You can pick this up at Designing-moments.net. And here is just one of the fabulous layouts that Fantacy did with her new kit. Isn't it awesome! To me it looks like the cover of a store bought Christmas card.
And here is my layout using it and her Feral Faeries kit. That's Em after her first Christmas. Plum tuckered out she was. And just what are Sugarplums anyway?
Well, looks like I've gotta get ready to go into work. Hope you all have a great day!!!
Until next time, scrap happy.

Quite the busy weekend, well maybe

Hi there!

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend. I got lots of scrapping and scrap related stuff done. Thanks to Cate, I finally figured out how to install my fonts on Vista. Yeah!!! And thank you!!!!

I went through my PSE organizer and deleted everything that wasn't a photo or layout. Next it to finish organizing all my files and then back them up on disc. I really don't know how reliable the online back up service is, it came with the computer and I seem to keep getting an error message. Guess I really need to look into that.

Here's one of the many layouts I did this weekend. It's a picture that was taken while I was on vacation last month in Florida. It's me and the aunts doing the famous Ohio State pose. The family is working on getting that in photos for all vacations taken. Well now it seems that we'll get to have it taken in New Orleans at the BCS National Championship Game. Yee Haw!!! It fell into our laps, plain and simple. But like we said before our loss to Illinois, we control our destiny. All the other teams that fell did too. I have no qualms about celebrating this. Ok, enough football.

New month, new challenges! I have a small list of challenges from some of the sites I hang out at. This list is non exclusive and not inclusive of all challenges at these sites or others.

Digital Scrap Garden has several of theirs posted. The quote challenge is "There's no place like home for the holidays". The Photo Challenge is What makes your hometown famous. The Element challenge the layout must include a holiday recipe, paperclip and Christmas flower. Of course there's a color challenge. Stop by and check out the Garden. They're also running a designing contest that just started last week. They've gotten some awesome entries.

Heather is running a challenge over at Plain Digital Wrapper. It's called I wanta scrap about me. This months challenge is your favorite holiday tradition. (I have mine all worked out in my head, just need to figure out how to get the pics).

Andrea has 3 that she's running over at DSO. She has chosen my favorite Christmas song as a part of her Lyric challenge. But I think she's partial to the Beatles anyway. Actually she's given 2 choices, either Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon or Wonderful Christmas by Paul McCartney. She also has the Font challenge and this months font is VTKS Easy Way. The final challenge she's hosting is the Book of Me challenge with the best Christmas gift ever gotten as the theme.

DSO has a ton of other challenges including Kristine's recipe challenge. Of course Kim B's color challenge, the sketch and template challenge as usual. The Element challenge is to have snow in your layout. (Easy enough for me, in the Midwest). The Numbers challenge is one that could be harder - 5 photos, 2 elements and 1 journal only!! The Quote challenge gives several quotes, but my favorite (and the one 1 did) is "Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eye of a child, they are all 30 feet tall". And then there's a new challenge there. It's called I can't believe you scrapped that?!? You guessed it, your subject needs to have people wondering why. Plus at DSO if you complete all the challenges, you get a really cool kit.

One of a Kind Scrapz (OAKS) also has their challenges posted. They run a little bit differently, but I think it's kinds cool. They run bi-monthly. Instead of a posting bonus, you accumulate points which are good towards a store gift certificate. That way you can earn what you want. Come on now, you have to admit it. You've done a challenge cuz you like that challenge but aren't all that thrilled about the posting bonus. Or is that the entire reason for doing the challenge? Quite curious about that. Anyway OAKS has an Ad challenge, font challenge, scraplift challenge and a brag book page exchange. The exchange is really cool. You get the kit for 1/2 off, create up to 5 pages and then get an entire brag book link at mid/end of the month. Last one had 34 pages and the first one had 40. The kit that's being used for the first half of the month is Faith True/Victoria Feemster collab Star Struck.
Here are 2 of my pages. I haven't uploaded or zipped them yet, so it's a little preview.

Here are some other challenge layouts that I got done. click on lo to be taken to credits.

This one was for an impromptu challenge over at OAKS.

This one is for the DSO Quote challenge.
This is the desktop challenge from the OAKS blog.
This little cutie is my niece Em. This is for the lift and font challenge over at OAKS.

And these 3 are just ones that I had been working on or wanted to do just because.

Well, I've checked Yen's blog everyday to see if there's any news. She's continuing to stay in my thoughts and prayers. I hope we hear some happy news soon.

Well, off to finish my organizing. Until next time, scrap happy.
